The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the renewal of local player categories for the upcoming 10th edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL). A total of 87 players have been categorized, with key updates including the promotion of four players to the Platinum category.

Four standout players—Hasan Ali, Mohammad Amir, Saim Ayub, and Usama Mir—have been elevated from the Diamond to Platinum category. This reflects their impressive performances in the previous season.
Meanwhile, leading stars such as Imad Wasim, Naseem Shah, Shadab Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, and Shaheen Shah Afridi retained their positions in the Platinum category. Players like Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Rizwan, and Babar Azam continue to highlight the league’s top-tier talent pool.
Distribution of Players in Other Categories
The Diamond category includes 16 players, with each team contributing multiple athletes. Quetta Gladiators and Multan Sultans have four players each, while Karachi Kings, Islamabad United, and Peshawar Zalmi feature two or three players each.
The Gold category comprises 30 players. Among them, Peshawar Zalmi leads with seven players, while Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars, and Quetta Gladiators each contribute five. Islamabad United and Multan Sultans add four players apiece.
In the Silver category, 16 players are included. Quetta Gladiators and Lahore Qalandars dominate with four players each, followed by Peshawar Zalmi with three, while other teams contribute fewer players.

The Emerging category showcases 12 young players. Teams like Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi lead with three players each, reflecting their focus on nurturing fresh talent.

The PCB also announced the timeline for the much-awaited HBL PSL Players’ Draft, scheduled for January 11, 2025. The venue and time will be revealed soon. Meanwhile, the registration window for foreign players is open, offering an opportunity for international stars to join the league.
The trade window remains active, allowing teams to fine-tune their rosters. Final announcements regarding player retentions and relegations will be made by the end of December.
