First-Class Cricket Takes Center Stage

The President’s Trophy Grade-I, the flagship first-class tournament, will kick off the year in January. Alongside it, the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy and Champions Cup will offer more red-ball cricket in September and October. These events will provide players with crucial opportunities to showcase their skills and aim for selection in the national Test team.

In total, more than 100 multi-day matches are planned, demonstrating the PCB’s commitment to strengthening first-class cricket. These competitions will serve as a platform for players to prove themselves in the longest format of the game.

Diverse White-Ball Competitions

White-ball cricket remains a key focus, with one List-A 50-over tournament, three T20 events, and a three-day non-first-class tournament scheduled. The National T20 Cup, featuring 18 teams from 16 regions, will be held in March, offering players a chance to shine in the shortest format.

The President’s Cup Grade-II will run in April and May, allowing departmental teams to compete for spots in first-class and List-A tournaments. Additionally, the Champions T20 Cup in December and the President’s Cup Grade-I in November-December will close the year with high-intensity action.

Pathways for Young Talent

The PCB has revamped its age-group structure, introducing U15 and U17 tournaments to replace the previous U13 and U16 categories. This change aims to provide teenagers more time to grow within their age groups, nurturing their skills early.

Key events include the National U15 and U17 One-Day Tournaments in February and the Challenge U19 One-Day Cup in April. These tournaments form part of a clear pathway for aspiring cricketers, starting from local clubs and schools to district and regional levels.

In September, the National U19 Cup will bring together the top performers from district-level tournaments. The year will culminate with the inaugural Champions U19 One-Day Cup and Trophy, featuring five regional teams under the guidance of experienced mentors.

Expanding Grassroots Opportunities

Grassroots cricket will see a surge in activity with more than 10,000 matches planned across clubs, schools, colleges, and universities. These competitions aim to unearth hidden talent and provide aspiring players with ample opportunities to shine.

The PCB’s domestic calendar also includes a break in senior men’s cricket during June, July, and August. During this period, regional training camps will focus on fitness and skill development to prepare players for the competitive second half of the year.
